Biography
My name is PeiHsuan Lu, and I am currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Penn State University. Before my Ph.D. studies, I taught elementary general music and choir as a licensed music teacher for many years. In addition to my public school teaching experience, I have taught piano and flute in private studios for over eight years.
My teaching experience has ignited a passion for educating students from diverse backgrounds and heritage cultures. These experiences have been pivotal in fostering my interest in DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) issues within music education. Additionally, I hold certifications in both Orff-Schulwerk and Kodály pedagogies.
My research interests are new media in music education, culturally responsive teaching, and technological music education. I have presented my research at numerous conferences, including the ISME World Conference, the ISME Asia-Pacific Symposium for Music Education Research (APSMER), the NAfME PMEA Annual In-Service Conference, and the Big Ten Academic Alliance Music Education Conference (BTAA).
In addition to research conferences, I have participated in various music festivals, such as the Musikalischer Sommer in Ostfriesland, Germany, and the Brancaleoni Music Festival in Piobbico, Italy. I love sharing my thoughts and experiences about music through musicking, research, and teaching.
